In this Video, Komal Mehna, Assistant Professor, Biyani Group of Colleges explains about the Timer mode control register(TMOD). Microcontrolller 8051 has 2 timer and two counter. Timer is used to generate a delay where as counter is used to count event hopping outside. TMOD register is a 8 bit control register which is divided in two part, lower part is for Timer0 and upper part is for TImer1. In this GATE bit is used to define the software control or hardware control.
